Day 16-A Good Habit

Today is Day 16 of the 30 Day “Photog Wanna Be” Challenge.

Challenge for today is “A Good Habit.”

Day 16-A Good Habit

For our family, it is getting outside and enjoying Mother Nature. Central Texas has super hot summers and chilly winters, so when the weather is nice we take advantage of the opportunities to go out and get dirty. Whether it is taking the kids to the playground, going out to the local lakes and getting our feet wet, or like today, going out and taking a nice hike in the wilderness, just get outside and enjoy some fresh air.

Day 14-Eyes

We had a fun family day trip yesterday which is why I didn’t get a chance to post yesterdays’ challenge.

“Cannot Live Without” was the challenge for yesterday.

Day 13-Cannot Live Without

I was trying to capture water and oxygen. A glass of water and a tree which generates oxygen.

Todays’ challenge is “Eyes.”

Day 14-Eyes

We took the kids to a local playground one day. Dana just happened to look down and saw this amazing piece of bark that had all these beautiful detailed swirls. We looked at it and decided it would be the perfect “eyes” for the driftwood octopus. I think it adds the perfect finishing touch.

Day 11-Something Blue

Today is Day 11 of the 30 Day “Photog Wanna Be” Challenge.

“Something Blue” is the challenge for today.

Day 11-Something Blue

This was a project that I made a few years ago.

I picked up a framed picture at Goodwill for a little over $3. After I Googled the print to make sure it wasn’t worth anything, I discarded the print and the glass. The frame measures a little over 24″ tall by 20″ wide. It was a basic wooden frame. I sanded it down and painted it with bright blue acrylic paint. I then attached a branch that I found in my yard to the frame using a hot glue gun. I cut out some letters out of cardboard and wrapped them with hemp twine, again using a hot glue gun to secure the twine into place. The last thing I did was suspend the letters from the branch. I spent about $7 total on this project. This hangs on the back wall opposite of the front door. It’s the first thing to greet us when we come home and the last thing we see as we leave the house.

Day 10-Childhood Memory

Today is Day 10 of the 30 Day “Photog Wanna Be” Challenge.

Challenge for today is “Childhood Memory.”

Day 10-Childhood Memory

My baby blanket.

I’ve had it for as long as I can remember. I’m pretty sure my parents got it from a church donation box. We immigrated here to America when I was 2 months old, so majority of the things we had back then were donations from church. Now it sits on a high shelf collecting dust. It’s so thin and most of the batting is long gone and there is also a giant rip along one of the seams but I love it.

Jewelry Making Supply

My jewelry supply box!

I’ve recently (in the last couple of months) started making earrings and bookmarks with charms. In the little bit of spare time I do have, this box is on my lap while I’m working away. If I’m not crafting new items, I’m surfing Etsy supply shops that specializes in vintage parts while brainstorming new designs.

Day 4-Something Green

It’s cold and dreary this morning. We’ve been graced with grey skies for the last couple of days. Today’s challenge is “Something Green”. I found this little family of owl hand warmers that I made for Monk this past December, when I was picking up all the toys and putting things away this morning.

Family of owl hand warmers

I used a vintage pillow case and scraps of an old olive green t-shirt. Stuffed with uncooked jasmine rice, just place the whole family on a clean plate and warm them in the microwave for 60 seconds. They will keep your hands warms for a little while. Of course I had to warm them up after I took a picture so they could keep us warm this cold morning. You can also stick the rice bags in a clean Ziploc and throw them in the freezer and use them as cold packs for bruises. The Ziploc is to keep the rice bags clean, the last thing you want is to get blood or other icky stuff from the freezer on your little bags.

Day 3-Clouds

So today is Day 3 of the 30 Day “Photog Wanna Be” Challenge.

It’s been raining and storming all night and most of the morning. The rain has been coming in waves. So thinking that I wouldn’t get a chance to get a good picture of the rain clouds, I decided to make some of my own. This was a project that I had pinned on Pinterest for awhile now. It took me all morning to make these clouds. If you know me, you know that I HATE sewing by hand. I first tried sewing the clouds with my sewing machine, but it wasn’t doing what I want. It’s not as neat as I would like it to be, but for the most part, I’m happy with it. My back up plan was my tube of E-6000 glue.

Then I thought, well is it cheating since it’s not real clouds? Luckily the rain stopped for a bit so I took my little rain clouds and found a nice spot so that I could capture the white rain clouds in the back ground.

Soooooo, here is my entry for Day 3-Clouds!

Day 3-Photography Challenge "Clouds"

For the record, it was a pain to try and get this photo. It was windy, so I kept getting blurry images, then every time the wind would die down enough for me to get a good picture a car would pass by and I would get bits of the car in the photo. The challenge says entries must be unedited. The middle cloud flipped around in the wind so my rainbow rain drops are a bit off, but for the most part I’m happy with the picture.

30 Day Photography Challenge

I decided I’m going to attempt the 30 Day “Photog Wanna Be” Challenge from Jen & Chrissy at Two Everyday Divas.

I forgot to post my self portrait yesterday, which is the challenge for Day 1. I was dead tired, and it totally slipped my mind. Squish woke me up at 2AM and I wasn’t able to go back to sleep. So here are my photos for Day 1 & Day 2 Challenges.

Day 2-Something you wore, taken with my Nikon Coolpix L110

Favorite Earrings
